Digital marketing becomes more complicated with each passing year. Marketers now have to juggle emerging social channels and evolving regulations, as well as content, automation, and personalization, to name a few, in addition to the basics like SEO, PPC, branding, and UX.

Brands will take TikTok Seriously as it Continues to Grow

If you’re interested in social media, TikTok is a platform to consider if you haven’t already. TikTok’s rapid growth has seen it reach 1 billion users and counting.

TikTok has a high level of engagement; users spend up to 850 hours per month on the platform, and it allows individuals and brands to have their videos go viral, which is no small feat in the social media world.

TikTok was the highest-earning non-game app in 2021, with users spending more than $110 million on the platform. This merely demonstrates the app’s earning potential for marketers looking to increase sales among young consumers.

It Will Be Easier To Do Business On Social Media

Using social media to find a product or service has never been easier. Brands flocked to Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok during the pandemic to offer customers online shops to replace their brick-and-mortar counterparts.

It’s no surprise, then, that by 2025, global social shopping (or social commerce) is expected to reach $1.2 trillion.

The social shopping experience will evolve in 2022 as platforms work behind the scenes to enable customer payments without leaving social media apps, resulting in a more seamless customer experience. By 2025, Gen Z and Millennials are expected to be the biggest spenders, accounting for 62% of global social ecommerce revenue.

Advertising on YouTube is About to Explode

In 2022, YouTube will experience a surge in advertising investment. It’s a sleeping titan. Because of the shift away from linear television, fragmentation with subscriptions, and the rise of streaming services, more advertising dollars will be directed to YouTube.

YouTube’s global revenue reached nearly $29 billion last year, up nearly 46% from 2020. The rise in more traditional TV advertisers on the channel, direct response google ads, and brand advertising has put the social media platform on par with Netflix in terms of revenue.

The Metaverse Will Become a Playground for Marketers

The metaverse has been around for a while, but marketers only became aware of it after Facebook changed its parent company’s name to Meta in October 2021.

But, first and foremost, what is the metaverse? Simply put, it’s a network of three-dimensional virtual worlds that people can connect via Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR). Minecraft, Roblox, Pokemon, and Fornite are just a few of the well-known gaming platforms that operate in this area, and many of them are familiar to the youngest demographic of all – Generation Alpha.

The metaverse is a relatively new digital channel for marketing, but recent campaigns have seen brands take advantage of its immersive nature to advertise. Roblox, for example, hosted Gucci Garden, a place where visitors could try on and purchase digital Gucci items to dress their avatars. Its goal was to increase brand awareness among younger people.

Digital Marketing Agencies will Become Necessary for Business

Facebook had an average of 1.93 billion daily active users in the third quarter of 2021. Additionally, Facebook boasted 2.91 billion monthly active users. Both figures represent a year-over-year increase of 6%. Keep in mind that these statistics only apply to Facebook and not to any of the other popular social media platforms.

That’s a lot of people who use Facebook on a daily basis. Surely, the ideal client is among them. But how do you find those people among the billions of people on the planet? That’s why hiring a social media account manager to take care of your online presence is so important.
