If you think getting your e-commerce store to appear on Google sounds complicated, it is not. When optimizing your website, your goal should be to make it easy for search engines to find it, show authority through content and backlinks and offer relevant keywords. However, what is certainly challenging is to get your website to appear in competitive searches. This is where SEO plays a role. Building and growing your e-commerce website takes time, effort and resources, one that a very capable SEO agency can provide.

SEO pays off in the long term; you only need to exercise patience. Here’s a checklist to cover all the possible outcomes and scenarios on how SEO works for e-commerce businesses. Ensure you work through each point, and have them covered.

Fix website errors immediately. No one wants to visit a site that is crawling with errors. For instance, if your site takes a long time to load you know visitors nowadays wouldn’t have the time or patience to sit it out for ten minutes. They will move onto the next competitor.

Find keywords ideas and determine what keywords work best for your business. For instance, if the visitor were you, what keywords would you search for? What keywords do you think your customers would look for when searching for a product or service? You need different keywords and phrases, and combinations to see which ones would work best.

Write exciting headlines. Remember, you have exactly 2.6 seconds to grab the attention of a visitor. It is all in the headline. How exciting and engaging your headline is will determine between a visitor staying or leaving.

Your website needs a good link building strategy. Link websites back to you; this gives your site more authority. The more sites that link back to your site, the more credible your website appears to its visitors.

Create great content. This cannot be emphasized enough. Write on topics that will draw your visitors. For instance, if you are a guitar store, you might want to write on guitar lessons for beginners or the best guitar chords to play a song. Ensure your content has descriptive text. Search engines index pages on what the pages are saying. If you are not including the proper keywords, search engines will either not find these pages or skip over them because they don’t seem relevant. If you want to rank each page, you will need to incorporate relevant keywords into the descriptive text.

Build your reputation on platforms other than your website. You can get your SEO company to create business profiles on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. This too helps customers find your page when they search under business reviews.
