Many businesses find content as a great way to bring attention to the brand. However, not every piece of content will give you the exposure you seek for your brand. If you want to drive traffic to your content, then you need to find ways to do it. Social media sounds like the best way to share your content multiple times. It may sound simple, but is it really?

When you publish a blog post and promote it on social media you garner a number of clicks on each network. The returns look quite good. Does the traffic double if you share a link to that same post the next day? What about if you share the post once again on the third day? The point is you need to share your posts as often as possible if you want to get more clicks and double your traffic.

Now to the next important question, should you share the same content several times? Social media in general tends to trigger strong reactions. While some marketers prefer not to share content more than once, recent studies have revealed that rarely have people complained upon seeing the same post twice. Unlike RSS feeds, social media news feeds are different. There may be times your followers miss out on seeing a post the first time around, sharing it again means they get to see what you promised them at the start – value.

While sharing the same content a few times is good, spamming them with old and random posts is never good. While initially people may pay attention to the frequency of posts, after a while, they will start ignoring it. If you share too much, they may unfollow you. Once again sharing multiple times is good, but you need to follow some rules.

Consider your followers. Your social media pages are for them to read, it is not for you.

Have a smart schedule over a crowded one, and avoid becoming a spammer.

Don’t do anything you wouldn’t want done to you. Consider your strategy in the hands of another person, how would you feel? Would you like it well enough to respond?

A social media company can develop a schedule to share content multiple times. You need some guidelines if you want to share the same content. What is the preferred time? What is acceptable? Will the content continue to be fresh and shareable? Once you map out a message schedule you will have a bird’s eye view of how the content will be shared and received.

While sharing content multiple times is acceptable, make sure you add some variety to it. This is what will separate you from spammers of every kind. Do not make it monotonous, if not, your followers will become bored of what you have to say.

As always, monitor your results and see what worked and what didn’t. If you see a decrease in activity you need to adjust the schedule. For instance, if you see negative reviews piling up it is time to rethink your strategy.
