Is Your Startup Bootstrapped? You Need These Digital Marketing Tips

You just launched your new business and you need to find an audience. You want your brand to be in front of your target group. There is a problem, however, you are not only competing with brands in your industry but in other industries as well. Remember, consumers are bombarded from all corners of the globe, and this seen everyday. Now if your startup is bootstrapped and you do not have funds to invest in digital marketing, what can you do?

Let’s talk about social media. Social media is a cost effective way to market your new business. It gives your growing brand a great platform to slowly start, build an audience which in turn can become a community. It also gives you an easy medium to offer your customers great customer service and support.

Once you are in the process of building a voice for your brand, you need to learn to be consistent and regular. You should post frequently and there should be a uniformed identity maintained in the posts at all times. However, avoid going overboard with posts, do not turn your posts into spam. Recent survey indicates you should post between 5-10 times per week on Facebook, 5 tweets per day on Twitter, and just once on Google Plus and LinkedIn.

You should make customers your primary focus. Social media is not about you, it is about who pays attention to you. Do not use your social media platforms for promotional purposes only. This is a failed strategy. While promotion content is necessary, share information and resources customers would be interested in seeing.

Social media provides the best platform to engage with your customers closely and intimately. Make your followers feel like valued members, show them you appreciate their efforts and dedication to your brand. Also, do not hide behind failures. Any new startup is bound to have a few hiccups along the way. Express the long term vision of your brand and provide good customer service to win them over.

Content marketing is an investment and is often overlooked as part of an overall digital marketing strategy. Content is the vehicle to convey your message. If you offer clear and well formulated content, you will be able to reach a wider audience. At the same time content marketing is not just about flinging any message against the Facebook wall. You need to craft an effective message and focus on selling the benefit of your product and service. Content marketing will give your audience plenty to focus on, it will keep them engaged with your brand even during times your startup is not producing the best results.
